About Samriddhi Poudel,
fondly known as Puku Didi
Puku Didi could do anything she set her mind to. Always rebellious, she defined what it is to be an indomitable person for those around her. She lived wildly with love for herself and humanity around her. She will forever be a vibrant example on how to live well and wisely.
Puku Didi’s humanitarian efforts were unparalleled. She dedicated her career to serving the underserved, with passion and love. A fierce feminist, she advocated through writing. As the editor for UNICEF, she wrote on issues impacting children, adolescents and women in Nepal. In the aftermath of 2015 earthquakes, she went on to chronicle the stories of survivors.
When she moved to New Zealand (NZ), she was driven to ensure a dignified life for people with cancer. At the Cancer Society of NZ, she fundraised to increase cancer prevention and to mitigate financial burden of treatments. During the 2017 general elections, she moved back to Nepal. Through International Foundation for Electoral Systems, she ran media campaigns for the Election Commission. Here she advocated for voices of all Nepalis to be heard through their votes.
Puku Didi Foundation is established to continue this spirit of Puku Didi’s work and life. To spread love, happiness and vibrancy across Nepal and globe.
