About Puku Didi Foundation
Puku Didi Foundation (PDF is a non government organization established in memory of indomitable Samriddhi Poudel. The organization providers scholarships for young girls from underserved communities in Nepal. It also supports schools to establish adequate and gender responsive infrastructure.
PDF's approach is in direct response to low enrollment of young girls in basic school (Grade 1-8) in Sarlahi and their markedly low conversion to secondary school (Grade 9-12). Sarlahi district ranks amongst the lowest in adult literacy (38%) and mean years of schooling (2.42 years). Sisout, a village in Sarlahi where we work, has the highest poverty rate in the district and has large pockets of underserved communities.
